International Journalism

In June 2025, I spent three weeks studying abroad in Italy as a participant in the Lawrence Herbert School of Communication’s “Hofstra in Rome” program. We studied at St. John’s University’s Rome campus and traveled all throughout Rome learning about the city’s ancient history and architecture. Weekdays were filled with interviews, writing, and video editing, and weekends saw us travel to Frascati, Sorrento, Naples, the Island of Capri, Venice, Florence, and the Tuscan countryside. The program’s coursework involved the completion of three group multimedia stories – from pitching ideas to interviewing in Italian to video editing. The program’s story collection is titled “Rome Through the Eyes of the Jubilee Year,” and my group dug deeper into the Holy Year’s impact on daily Roman life through one of our stories, titled “Rome’s Jubilee Year Impacts Local Businesses.” I worked as an interviewer, writer, and copy editor for the below three stories, and I hope you’ll take a look at the full collection featuring stories by my classmates!
